A Religion of Peace

Islam literally means peace, submission and being in friendly and concordant relations. The meaning of the word Islam is the attainment of a life of perfect peace and eternal happiness through complete obedience to the Will of God. Its teachings are in accordance with human nature. Islam is a scientific religion and recognizes the truth of science.

Religious Evolution

In essence, Islam is the continuity of all the divinely revealed religions that preceded it. It is the pinnacle of religious evolution. Islam teaches that God has always spoken to mankind. The innermost yearning found deeply embedded in human nature is the desire to discover the ultimate Beloved, which is none other than God. Thus, God has always created the means for His creation to fulfill this quest.

He has done so through revealing religious teachings to His chosen messengers.
The Holy Qur’an states: “There is no people to whom a Warner has not been sent.” (35:25). Islam teaches that men such as Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, Zoroaster, Confucius, and Socrates, were all divinely appointed prophets.
The religions that these men of God taught were true in their essence. However, as all things in life are subject to decay, with time, these teachings were eventually adulterated. Humans interpolated divine teachings with their own words.

With the increasing interconnectivity of the world, Divine Wisdom deemed it necessary to reveal a universal teaching to mankind. Islam claims to be that very teaching, sent to unite all people across our increasingly interconnected globe, and therefore also claims that its teaching can be applied in all societies and nations, in any time.

Islamic Teachings

The literal meaning of the word Islam is peace and obedience. Thus, Muslims are those who, through obedience to their Creator, establish peace with Him, His creatures, and within themselves. The core goals of all true religions have always been two principles. To love God, and to love His creation.

The founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), expounds upon this:
“The essence of Islam, has two aspects. First, that God Almighty should become one’s object of worship and true goal and love, and that worship, love, fear and hope should be for God alone, to the exclusion of all others.

The second aspect of devoting one’s life to the cause of God Almighty is that one’s life should be devoted to the service of His creatures, to sympathizing with them, and to sharing their burdens and sorrows. One should suffer pain to bring them comfort, and one should experience grief to bring them consolation.

This shows that the reality of Islam is a very superior thing and that no one can truly deserve the title of Muslim until he surrenders the whole of his being to God, together with all his faculties, desires, and designs.”
